Urban energy will pulse through every moment, bringing a fresh and dynamic vision to the beloved musical “Godspell” this month.

The Firehouse Theatre is bringing the first major musical theater offering from three-time Grammy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz, which took the world by storm in 1972, to Farmers Branch this month.

Featuring international folk-rock hit “Day by Day,” written by Schwartz and playwright John-Michael Tebelak, who conceived and directed Godspell as his master’s thesis at Carnegie Mellon University, as well as “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All for the Best” and many more.

“I’m excited to bring this show to the Firehouse and give the community a little positivity, a lot of a laughter and, of course, hope during such trying times,” said Director Amy Parsons. “The theme setting our show is different, I dare say, than anything the audience has seen before. The stories may be familiar, but our incredibly talented cast will present them in fresh, new ways that will make you smile, laugh, think a lot and maybe even cry a little.”

Lucas Haupert will perform the part of Jesus, while Farmers Branch resident Nolan Spinks will portray Judas. Cam Hayes is John the Baptist.

Casted as The Company are Cayley Bender-Davis, Cam Hayes, Kayla Renee Jackson, Meghan MacLellan, Bryson Morlan, Sydnie Roy, Brianna Seanor, Evan Taiclet and Trev Turnbow.

According to Schwartz’s website, Musicalschwartz.com, Tebelak was inspired by the joy and simplicity in the Gospels of the New Testament Bible.

Tebelak died of a heart attack in 1985.

Schwartz’s work includes “Pippen,” “Wicked” and multiple Disney hits, including “Pocahontas” and “Enchanted.”

Tickets for "Godspell" can be purchased on The Firehouse Theatre's website.
