For nearly 60 years, Farmers Branch Elementary has been a place where generations of students have learned, grown and made memories. On Monday morning, the school began writing its next chapter as Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD officially broke ground on what one day will be its new campus.
“Farmers Branch Elementary has always been and will continue to be more than just a campus,” Principal Rachael Langston said. “It is part of the heart of this city. We are not just building a new school. We are building on the strong foundation that has made Farmers Branch Elementary special for generations, and creating a place where the next generation of students can grow, learn and dream.”
District leadership, including Superintendent Wendy Eldredge and members of the CFBISD Board of Trustees, as well as elected officials, construction partners and school representatives gathered to celebrate the milestone and honor the legacy of the original campus while looking ahead to its future.
Since opening its doors in 1967, the original Farmers Branch Elementary has served generations of local families. The new campus will carry that legacy forward with modern learning environments, updated technology, expanded instructional spaces and enhanced safety features.
“Today we celebrate the start of construction of a new, state-of-the-art facility, and the continued investment in our students, our staff and our community,” Dr. Eldredge said. “The support we have received throughout this process has been immeasurable.”
The project is part of the $716 million bond package approved by voters in 2023 and will enhance student safety, upgrade facilities to meet contemporary instructional needs and expand learning opportunities for students. Construction is underway and will continue beyond the 2026–27 school year.
Currently Farmers Branch Elementary students and staff are temporarily housed at the Farmers Branch North campus, 1600 S. Perry Road in Carrollton. They will remain at the temporary location until the new facility is complete.
