Active shooter incidents often happen suddenly and can escalate rapidly.

The C.R.A.S.E. workshop offers a thorough examination of potential active shooters and emphasizes the important role bystanders can play in reducing their impact.

Everyone is invited to this free workshop on Tuesday, Aug. 25, in the Municipal Court community room (2001 E. Jackson Road) to learn how to protect themselves, their loved ones and others around them. Registration is encouraged but not required.

City Council Meeting – Aug. 25

All are invited to attend the next Carrollton City Council meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 25. The work session will begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber located on the second floor of City Hall (1945 E. Jackson Road). Meetings typically occur on the first and third Tuesday of each month, with minutes becoming available after the Council adopts them, usually at subsequent meetings.

Lunch and Chat with Carrollton Police Department – Aug. 26

The Carrollton Police Department invites residents ages 50 and over to a free lunch and chat on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees will receive up-to-date public safety information, learn current trends that will help them become harder targets for criminals and discuss other topics that can improve their quality of life. Boards & Commissions Meet & Greet – Aug. 26

The City of Carrollton is accepting applications for its 2026 Boards & Commissions. Residents are encouraged to get involved in the community by serving in areas that matter to them. City governments rely on volunteers serving on boards and committees. Member input plays an important role in shaping Carrollton's future and public policy. Want to learn more? Join the 2026 Boards & Commissions Meet & Greet on Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Carrollton City Hall (1945 E. Jackson Road). Apply to serve by Sept. 4, 2026.

Sept. 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World Poster Exhibition

Commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 by visiting the poster exhibition, developed by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and partly supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy Demands Wisdom, which runs from Sept. 1-30 at Josey Ranch Lake Library. The exhibit features 14 posters with archival photos, artifacts and stories from witnesses and survivors. It explores terrorism's impact on individuals and communities while encouraging visitors to reflect on the enduring legacy of 9/11. Labor Day Closures – Sept. 7

Carrollton City Hall, Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center, Carrollton Municipal Court, Josey Ranch Lake Library, Hebron & Josey Library and Oak Creek Tennis Center will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. The Carrollton Senior Center, Rosemeade Recreation Center and Crosby Recreation Center will remain open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Indian Creek Golf Club will remain open for regular hours of operation. The A.W. Perry Homestead Museum is closed on Monday, Friday and Sunday. There will be no delay to residential trash collections. For more information, including regular hours of operation, call 972-466-3000.

Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex Open on Weekends through Sept. 7
Starting Aug. 10, the Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex (1334 E. Rosemeade Parkway) will be open weekends only through Monday, Sept. 7. Explore everything the Rainforest has to offer with a zero-depth entry pool, two platform levels with connecting bridges, water cannons, bubblers, spray bars, water slides, a 200-foot lazy river and a 600-gallon dump bucket.
 
The main pool section also features a shaded toddler splash pool, a 25-meter lap pool with eight lanes, a diving well and two 22-foot water slides. Proper swim attire is required to enter the pool area. Sports bras, jeans, basketball shorts or apparel with grommets are not allowed.
 

Homebuying 101 – Sept. 8

Discover the essentials of buying a home in this expert-led Homebuying 101 presentation at Hebron & Josey Library (4220 N. Josey Road) on Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The presentation will cover the roles of common vendors, including realtors, mortgage providers, home inspectors and title companies. Attendees will also learn the steps to take before beginning the search, including timelines, milestones and initial financial requirements, such as mortgage preapproval, loan types and closing costs. The session is led by Realtor Justus Carlile of Makin' Moves Realty LLC and sales manager Chase Pierson of Supreme Lending. Registration is not necessary, but space is limited.

This event is part of a partnership between the Carrollton Public Library and the City’s Community Development Department.
