The Farmers Branch Police Department is on the scene of an officer involved shooting that occurred in the 4000 block of Belt Line Rd. in Addison.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2025, the Addison Police Department was assisting the Farmers Branch Police Department with attempting to locate a suspect who had previously been involved in narcotics activity at the location.
Addison and Farmers Branch officers initiated contact with a vehicle believed to be related to the investigation in the parking lot of the business.
During the contact, a male suspect was asked to step out of the vehicle and a confrontation ensued.
Shots were exchanged between the suspect and officers.
Preliminary findings suggest that the suspect fired a weapon at the officers, and officers from both agencies discharged their weapons at the suspect, striking him.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is currently in stable condition.
A Farmers Branch officer suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.
As is standard protocol for all officer-involved shootings, two separate investigations are underway: an independent criminal investigation conducted by the Texas Rangers and an internal affairs investigation to ensure department policy was followed.
Additionally, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Public Integrity Unit was notified and responded to the scene as well.
