CFBISD has been named as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for the 18th time.
This honor is awarded to school districts that demonstrate outstanding commitment to music education and provide music access and education to all students.
To qualify for the designation, CFBISD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by the Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
Currently, there are more than 5,000 middle school and high school students enrolled in musical fine arts in CFBISD. Additionally, more than 11,000 elementary students receive music instruction. This means approximately 16,000 students are exposed to music education each year.
“This accomplishment is due to our incredible teaching staff, our supportive administration and our talented students,” said Mark Rohwer, director of fine arts. “Our CFB fine arts team is proud to support the finest teachers and hardest working student musicians in all of Texas.”
The NAMM Foundation is a non-profit organization supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its approximately 10,300 members around the world. The foundation advances active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs.
