Families spread blankets across the lawn, children explored the historic buildings, and neighbors danced in front of the stage as Farmers Branch celebrated America's 250th birthday during its annual Independence Day Celebration on July 3 at Farmers Branch Historical Park.
The free event for Farmers Branch residents, with admission available to nonresidents by ticket, featured food vendors, a KidZone, historical attractions, roaming patriotic characters and a performance by the Dallas party band Empire 6 before the evening ended with a low-level fireworks spectacular.
As the sun set, the crowd grew shoulder-to-shoulder across the park, with lawn chairs and picnic blankets stretching from the concert stage across the meadow. Empire 6 kept the audience on its feet with a mix of pop, rock, country and dance favorites, while families explored the mercantile and other attractions throughout the park before settling in for the fireworks.
Fireworks with a strong red, white and blue theme lit up the sky over the Historical Park, drawing cheers from the thousands gathered below and bringing another Independence Day celebration to a close in one of Farmers Branch's signature community traditions.
