Editor's Note: This story has been corrected to reflect that Roger Neal represents District 5.
Early voting is underway for the 2025 Joint and Special Election, and every vote counts.
It’s not unusual for Farmers Branch City Councilmembers to be elected by fewer than 100 votes. Last year, in the 2024 Joint and Special Election, Roger Neal won District 5 by 58 votes with 862 votes cast. In the 2022 Joint Election, Omar Roman won District 1 by 48 votes with 396 votes cast.
Mayor Terry Lynne won the mayoral race in the 2023 Joint and Special Election by 368 votes with 3,844 votes cast. Martin Baird won District 2 that year by 132 votes with 912 votes.
For this election, Farmers Branch Manske Library is the only early voting location in city limits. However Farmers Branch – and all Dallas County – residents may vote at any voting center in Dallas County. There are 61 early voting centers and 422 voting centers for Election Day, only on May 3. Dallas College Brookhaven College is not a polling place for either early or election day voting this year.
Farmers Branch residents who are not in Districts 1 or 4 will not have any city council race on their ballots.
There are no Farmers Branch propositions on this ballot, but there are seven candidates for three Board of Trustees positions for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District.
Voting for the Board of Trustees is cumulative, so the three candidates who receive the most votes, in both Dallas and Denton counties, will win the positions. Ballots have the name of each candidate three times, and voters can give one candidate all three of their votes or give one candidate two of their votes and another candidate their third vote or give each of their votes to three different candidates.
Voters must provide photo identification, as listed on the Dallas County Elections website, and confirm their address to vote. Voters may bring in their written notes to help with their selections, but may not use their phones in the polling place.
The Branch Herald will be following the elections and will post a story with the unofficial results for the Farmers Branch City Council and CFBISD Board of Trustee elections as soon as possible after the election on Saturday evening.
