Fires have kept Farmers Branch Fire Department (FBFD) busy this week.

Residents of two homes and an apartment complex received no injuries though the fires caused significant damage and two fire fighters were minorly injured.

At 5:23 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 3, seven fire trucks and ambulances from FBFD, six from Carrollton Fire Rescue and three trucks from the Coppell Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 1700 block of Mercer Crossing.

Upon investigating the scene in the apartment complex, firefighters found light smoke pushing out of the balcony eaves and the roof. They exposed the walls and ceiling to find the source, while a team from another truck did the same in apartment below.

Teams from FBPD Truck 131 and Carrollton Fire Rescue Truck 112 performed roof operations and checked for extension into the attic space, where they found smoke and heat.

The fire was declared under control by 6:35 a.m.

Two Farmers Branch fire personnel were injured, but the department reported that their injuries were minor and they returned to duty.

At 5:21 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, FBFD responded to a fire on Rockmartin Drive near Templeton Trail. The fire was attacked and quickly put under control, according to the FBFD.

Lastly, at 3:18 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, the FBFD and Carrollton Fire Rescue was dispatched to a fire at a small house on Springvale Lane, near Josey Lane.

According to the report from the FBFD, teams found heavy smoke and fire from the attic of the home.

Smoke detectors alerted two occupants of the home, and they self-evacuated.

No injuries were reported by either firefighters or the occupants of the home.

The Farmers Branch Fire Department has not released causes of any of the fires.
