Black History Month Celebration

Posted

Come and join our community as we celebrate Black History Month. Christ Community Connection has partnered with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District and the Metrocrest cities to present a program recognizing the outstanding contributions of both national and local Black Trailblazers of America. Carrollton became a city in 1913. During the 1800s, Rufus and Betty Hads, the Rainwaters and other Black Pioneer Families lived on Keller Springs Road. Black people have a rich heritage in Addison, Carrollton and Farmers Branch, Texas, and the surrounding areas.

The program will feature speeches, songs and skits, focusing on our rich heritage in the City of Carrollton and learning of other national contributions of African Americans. Our guest speaker will be Hestor Moore, acclaimed actress, author and motivational speaker.

The program will be held at Annie Heads Rainwater Elementary School.

Over 60 years of integration in CFBISD. In 1962, Annie Rainwater filed a civil cation in the United States Court vs CFBISD in Dallas Division. Judge Sarah T. Hughes signed the suit order that all races or color will attend CFBISD.

We will celebrate Annie Heads Rainwater's Birthday, born Feb. 3, 1912.

Keep Freedom Alive.
