A new program from a local family-owned service company allows teachers, nurses, firefighters, and military families in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to get their home's heating, cooling, and plumbing checked out for free.
This "Hometown Heroes" program offers free annual home maintenance worth nearly $1,500 to educators, first responders, medical professionals, military members and other community workers across DFW for no cost. Furnace tune-ups, plumbing inspections and filter replacements, plus priority scheduling and discounted repairs year-round – all for free.
For many people in these professions, home maintenance often gets pushed to the back burner. Long shifts, irregular hours, and the demands of serving others don't leave much time or energy for keeping up with filters, furnaces, and pipes. The program is designed to take at least one thing off their plate, while they work to keep you and your family safe.
For General Manager Daniel Johnson, the work ties back to family. His grandfather, a veteran, founded Dial One Johnson Plumbing, Cooling & Heating in 1965. Johnson knows how much these heroes give to their community, and felt the responsibility to give something back.
That sense of obligation extends beyond a single seasonal campaign. The priority scheduling and year-round repair discounts included in the program mean that enrolled members have ongoing access to support, not just a one-time visit.
It's the second consecutive year the company has organized a major community giveback effort to local heroes. Last spring, the team donated labor to install air conditioning units at Serenity Veterans Village in Ellis County, a tiny-home community serving homeless veterans and their families with housing, counseling, job placements, and more.
This year, the program launched in conjunction with First Responders Wellness Week. Anyone interested in finding more information can visit Dial One Johnson Plumbing, Cooling & Heating's website.
