In a world where every family has a story, Single Parent Advocate (SPA) has stood by single parents and their children since 2009. Now, the North Texas nonprofit is inviting the whole community to share in a new chapter at their grand opening celebration on Friday, Nov. 7, at 11:30 a.m., at their new home at The Meeting Place, 13612 Midway Road, #601, in Farmers Branch.
What began in Carrollton as one mother’s determination to turn struggle into service has become a beacon of hope for thousands of single-parent families across North Texas. Founder Stacie Martin knows firsthand what it's like to face parenthood alone. Divorced and raising her son on her own, Stacie juggled work, home, and the weight of providing on a single income. When she unexpectedly lost her job, the experience was humbling – but also transformative. “There were days when I wasn’t sure how I’d get through,” Martin reflects. “But I saw so many other parents just like me who needed a hand... and a little hope.”
Determined not only to survive but to lift others along the way, Stacie founded Single Parent Advocate in 2009. Since then, SPA has offered encouragement, resources, and vital support to families stretching from Carrollton and Farmers Branch to Dallas, Plano and beyond.
As SPA settles into its new space, it invites the public to a joyous ribbon cutting and a Toy and Teen Gift Card Drive. Community members are encouraged to bring a new toy or gift card; the gifts will be given to single-parent families who are nominated by schools, churches, local businesses, or associations.

“Every child deserves to feel seen, and every parent deserves to know they’re not alone,” Stacie shares. “With help from our community and the generosity of local partners, we’re lighting a path forward for families all over North Texas.”
