Some neighbors need more than a reminder to maintain their property. They need someone willing to lend a hand.
The City of Farmers Branch is seeking volunteers for Code Care, a community program that connects residents who need help with volunteers and community partners willing to assist with minor property maintenance projects.
The program, led by the city's Code Enforcement Division, serves residents who may be physically unable or financially unable to complete basic exterior home maintenance on their own. Volunteers help with projects that improve neighborhood appearance while allowing residents to remain safely in their homes.
Projects may include:
The city is encouraging individuals, businesses, churches, nonprofit organizations and civic groups to participate. Most projects do not require specialized skills, making them suitable for volunteers of all experience levels.
Groups can volunteer during scheduled Code Care Event Days or coordinate a separate day of service that fits their schedule. Organizations may also adopt a project as a team-building or community service opportunity.
Residents interested in volunteering can contact the Farmers Branch Code Enforcement Division at 972-919-2671 or email Senior Code Enforcement Officer Angeleana Camacho at angeleana.camacho@farmersbranchtx.gov for applications.
Once applicants receive the application, they should complete and sign the required forms and upload the requested documentation, including a valid photo ID, to help avoid delays in the approval process. Once an application has been reviewed, city staff will contact volunteers with the next steps.
For residents looking for a way to make a visible difference in the community, Code Care offers an opportunity to help a neighbor while strengthening Farmers Branch one project at a time.
