The Farmers Branch Police Department Citizens Police Academy is a 33-hour block of instruction designed to give the public a working knowledge of the police department's personnel and policies. It consists of a series of classes held once each week for three hours. The instruction is comprehensive, covering a different area of the Police Department each week. Officers, supervisors and personnel assigned to that particular division conduct each instructional block.
Successful completion of the Citizens Police Academy is a prerequisite for participating in Citizens on Patrol.
The Farmers Branch Police Department intends that the instruction increases police awareness, dispels suspicions and misconceptions and increases police-community rapport through this educational process. The department, in turn, becomes more aware of the feelings and concerns of the community from participants' interaction and input.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and Farmers Branch residents to attend. Register here.
