Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month this September. New members who register for a library card will receive a voucher for the Friends of the Carrollton Public Library Book Sale and be entered into a prize drawing. Existing cardholders can join the celebration by participating in month-long challenges. September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World Poster Exhibition
Commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 by visiting the poster exhibition, developed by the 9/11 Memorial & Museum and partly supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy Demands Wisdom, which runs from September 1-30 at Josey Ranch Lake Library. The exhibit features 14 posters with archival photos, images of artifacts, and stories from witnesses and survivors. It explores terrorism's impact on individuals and communities while encouraging visitors to reflect on the enduring legacy of 9/11. Labor Day Closures – September 7
Carrollton City Hall, Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center, Carrollton Municipal Court, Josey Ranch Lake Library, Hebron & Josey Library, and Oak Creek Tennis Center will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. The Carrollton Senior Center, Rosemeade Recreation Center, and Crosby Recreation Center will remain open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Indian Creek Golf Club will remain open for regular hours of operation. The A.W. Perry Homestead Museum is closed on Monday, Friday, and Sunday. There will be no delay to residential trash collections. For more information, including regular hours of operation, call 972-466-3000.
Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex Open on Weekends through September 7
Starting August 10, the Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex (1334 E. Rosemeade Parkway) will be open weekends only through Monday, September 7. Explore everything the Rainforest has to offer with a zero-depth entry pool, two platform levels with connecting bridges, water cannons, bubblers, spray bars, water slides, a 200-foot lazy river, and a 600-gallon dump bucket.
The main pool section also features a shaded toddler splash pool, a 25-meter lap pool with eight lanes, a diving well, and two 22-foot water slides. Proper swim attire is required to enter the pool area. Sports bras, jeans, basketball shorts, or apparel with grommets are not allowed.
Homebuying 101 – September 8
Discover the essentials of buying a home in this expert-led Homebuying 101 presentation at Hebron & Josey Library (4220 N. Josey Road) on Tuesday, September 8, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The presentation will cover the roles of common vendors, including realtors, mortgage providers, home inspectors, and title companies. Attendees will also learn the steps to take before beginning the search, including timelines, milestones, and initial financial requirements, such as mortgage preapproval, loan types, and closing costs. The session is led by Realtor Justus Carlile of Makin' Moves Realty LLC and sales manager Chase Pierson of Supreme Lending. Registration is not necessary, but space is limited.

Sounds on the Square – September 11
Join the City of Carrollton for the Sounds on the Square music series from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 11, in Historic Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street). This community-focused live music series highlights the Downtown Square with monthly performances from talented local artists and performers. Enjoy the group 3 Shades of Grey, which features rich vocal harmonies and a surprisingly full musical sound from an unforgettable trio playing timeless music.

Lunch & Chat with Carrollton Police Department – September 23
The Carrollton Police Department invites residents ages 50 and over to a free lunch and chat on Wednesday, August 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees will receive up-to-date public safety information, learn current trends that will help them become harder targets for criminals, and discuss other topics that can improve their quality of life. Friends of the Carrollton Public Library Book Sale
Visit the Hebron & Josey Library (4220 N. Josey Lane) on Thursday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. or Saturday, September 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to browse a selection of donated books, movies, and music for both adults and children at the Friends of the Carrollton Public Library Book Sale. All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Carrollton Public Library (FOTCPL), whose mission is to support Library programming and events for kids, tweens, teens, and adults. Members of FOTCPL will get early access to the book sale on Wednesday, September 23, from 5-8 p.m. Cash, checks, and credit cards are all accepted.
Carrollton Kicks Off Sidewalk Condition Assessment Project
Community members may notice specialized e-bikes on City-maintained sidewalks through mid-September as part of a City project to assess sidewalk conditions. The City of Carrollton hired Roadway Asset Services, LLC (RAS), a surveying firm, to update the sidewalk inventory. RAS uses e-bikes with digital cameras and sensors to gather data on sidewalks and infrastructure. For this project, the e-bikes will operate during daylight hours throughout Carrollton.
