The James A. Smith Masonic Lodge #395 presented the Texas Community Builder Award to Ruth Fuls on Thursday, April 10.
The Community Builder Award was designed to formally recognize outstanding non-Masons who distinguish themselves through their service to their community and follow the same precepts, ideals and standards established by the Masons.
The James A. Smith Masonic Lodge #395 was established in 1874, in an area known as Mound Prairie, now located near Midway Road and Northwest Highway.
It was named after Methodist Minister James A. Smith, who came to Texas in 1846.
The lodge moved to its present location at 12823 Demetra Dr. in Farmers Branch in 1957 and is active in a number of community service activities in the area.
