When brothers Kevin and Erik Corley started playing pickleball, they noticed a lack of court availability for players. Their favorite pickleball place, Chicken N Pickle, boasts of a combination of food and pickleball with outdoor and covered courts and a full restaurant and bar.
“It’s a really cool place - a social event with a great menu and a bar,” Kevin said. “It was really hard to get a reservation because there aren’t a lot of courts.”
The brothers also felt a facility focused on educating players about the sport was needed just as much as additional space to play. So they decided to take on the feat of opening an indoor pickleball facility themselves and began looking for a place to call home.
Once market research was complete and available facilities were scoped out, they decided Farmers Branch was the best place to build their business - a decision they don’t regret.
“(The City of) Farmers Branch has done a stellar job helping us get into this facility,” Kevin said.
Located off of Spring Valley Road near the North Dallas Tollway, DFW Indoor Pickleball officially opened their doors in January after about a year of planning.
Since opening, the nine-court indoor facility has been extremely successful, including selling out their membership plans within the first two weeks. The brothers have quickly adjusted to the high demand for their business, including launching a new membership plan that will help to get more interested players on the courts.
“Other than having memberships, we also offer different leagues, clinics and drills,” Kevin said. “We have a pro on staff that can do clinics with (people).”
Kevin also said that a membership isn’t required to book a court. Interested individuals can visit the DFW Indoor Pickleball website or app to book a court.
The facility is also offering upcoming holiday events for those looking to make new pickleball pals. For Valentine’s Day, they are hosting a Play Your Heart Out mixed doubles event for $50 per couple on Wed., February 14 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For St. Patrick’s Day, they are hosting a Who’s Your Paddy event with both recreational and competitive tracks on Sun., March 17 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
