A major natural gas infrastructure project along Villa Creek Drive is expected to bring weeks of lane closures and construction activity beginning this week, according to information from Atmos Energy.
The project will replace aging gas lines along Villa Creek Drive, with work stretching from just west of the Villa Creek Apartments and Josey Records east to the intersection at Ford Road.
Pre-construction activities are underway, with full construction scheduled to run through summer 2026. Restoration of affected areas is expected later in the summer.
Drivers should expect intermittent lane and road closures along Villa Creek Drive as crews work to install new pipe. Construction equipment and fencing will be present, and traffic may be temporarily rerouted in certain areas.
Atmos Energy officials said access to businesses, including Josey Records and nearby apartment complexes, will be maintained throughout the project. Emergency vehicle access will also remain available.
Door notices will be distributed to nearby residents and businesses several days in advance of any closures or direct impacts.
Work is expected to take place during daytime hours, typically from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
While construction may bring noise, dust and traffic delays, most routine services, including trash collection, mail delivery and utility services, are not expected to be interrupted.
The project is part of a broader effort to modernize the natural gas system across Dallas County to improve safety and reliability.
