American Legion Post 597 will welcome the community to its 6th Annual Chili Cook Off & Silent Auction on on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at 1024 S. Elm St. in Historic Downtown Carrollton.

The annual fundraiser brings together veterans, military families and the community for an afternoon of homemade chili, friendly competition, and a silent aucton.

Chili cook check-in begins at 3 p.m., followed by a flag raising at 4 p.m., judging at 4:15 p.m. and public tasting at 4:30 p.m. Guests can sample the entries and help select the People's Choice winner.

Proceeds from the event help the American Legion Post 597 Family support programs benefit veterans, military families, youth and the Carrollton community, including Boys & Girls State, the Carrollton Thanksgiving Soup Kitchen, Christmas programs for children, Dallas Life Shelter, and veteran assistance initiatives.

Members of the Post 597 Legion Family contribute more than 15,000 volunteer hours annually in support of veterans and community programs.

"The Chili Cook Off is a fun day, but what we're able to do because of it lasts all year," said Misty Jeffcoat, President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 597. "Every chili tasted, auction bid and donation helps us continue serving veterans, military families, young people and our community."
