Step into a magical adventure at Enchanted Library

Posted

Turn the page to a tale of fantasy and fun at Carrollton’s Enchanted Library on Friday, November 20 from 5-8 p.m. at Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road).

Enchanted Library will offer a night of imagination and whimsy for all ages with free, come-and-go activities, games, crafts, and photo ops. Children under 9 years old must always be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Special this year is the first-ever Baby Ball from 5-6 p.m. for babies, toddlers, or preschoolers ages birth to 5 years old. Bring them to experience a magical night at Cinderella’s ball, where they can dance, play, and explore station-based activities. Their siblings are welcome. Fairy Laurel and her puppet friends will also be available at this time to meet everyone and pose for photos.

Kids can create a one-of-a-kind treasure chest or a nature crown of flowers and leaves from the Library’s enchanted forest. They can embark on an Alice in Wonderland-inspired scavenger hunt or correctly guess the princess silhouettes to win prizes.

Tweens and teens activities are presented by the Teen Advisory Council and include decorating a tiny, whimsical wooden fairy door and creating a DIY dreamcatcher using colorful beads, charms, and feathers.

Teens and adults can choose the Water Wonderland Scavenger Hunt for sea creatures among the adult bookshelves to win a prize, create a fantasy world map, and paint a miniature for Dungeons & Dragons or a board game. Snacks and craft materials for all activities will be provided while supplies last.

Attendees of any age can get their face painted with a magical design, explore fantasy realms with self-directed activities in each study room, receive a themed temporary tattoo, strike a pose in the photo booth, and spin the wheel to test their fantasy trivia for a prize.

Enchanted Library will also feature a free, but ticketed event from 7-8 p.m. with Bernie the Bubble Lady bringing wonder, whimsy, and giant bubbles to attendees of all ages. Tickets for the bubble show will be available at 6:45 p.m., and are given on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets enable the Library to allow the most people inside for the show and maintain the rooms occupancy within its capacity limit.

Fantasy and fairytale attire at the event is highly encouraged; all knights, princesses, witches, wizards, and everything in between are welcome.

“The event is a celebration of all things magical and fantastical for young and old alike,” Youth Services Librarian Melissa Neybert said. “Enchanted Library has really taken off as the signature fall event for the Carrollton Public Library, and everyone is invited to bring the whole family to step into an evening of magical fun and adventure.”

A sensory friendly area, with coloring, sensory toys, and noise-cancelling headphones will also be available for children and adults to take a break if needed.

Enchanted Library is made possible thanks to the support of the Friends of the Carrollton Public Library. For more information and to view the full schedule of activities, find Enchanted Library at cityofcarrollton.com/library.
