Thursday Night Dance – May 14

Want to transform an ordinary Thursday into something extraordinary? Join the Carrollton Senior Center (1720 Keller Springs Road) for the Thursday Night Dance. This event takes place every Thursday evening from 7-9:15 p.m. A variety of entertainers are featured each week, and refreshments are provided. Participants must be 50 years old or older and possess a valid Senior Center membership or day pass, or they must be accompanied by someone with a membership or day pass to attend. The admission fee is $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents. For more information, call 972-466-4850.

CPR/AED Training – May 16

Sudden cardiac arrest is a survivable event, but usually only with bystander intervention before Emergency Medical Services arrive. Join Carrollton Fire Rescue on Saturday, May 16 from 9- 10:30 a.m. at the Carrollton Fire Administration building (1111 W. Belt Line Road #100) to receive free CPR and AED use training. This class primarily focuses on compression-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), while also covering choking, and child & infant CPR.

This course is not for those needing a nationally accredited course completion card, such as the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. For more information, call 972-466-9811.

Environmental Education: Seed Bombs – May 16

With summer approaching, it's the perfect time to discover the magic of gardening in a fun and interactive way. Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to join the City’s Environmental Services Department at the Josey Ranch Lake Library on Saturday, May 16. During this program, participants will work hands-on with seed bombs, a great way to learn about gardening, native plants, and important pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

All materials will be provided.

Tickets will be available 15 minutes before the event on a first-come, first-served basis.

Public Works Week Equipment Roadeo – May 20
 
Come celebrate the individuals who keep Carrollton running at the Public Works Equipment Roadeo on Wednesday, May 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Standridge Stadium (1330 Valwood Parkway).
 
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Public Works operators from the cities of Carrollton and Farmers Branch will compete in a friendly skills competition as they navigate challenging courses using heavy equipment.
 
Residents of all ages are invited to enjoy a fun, hands-on Touch A-Truck experience from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Explore a variety of trucks and equipment up close, meet the amazing people who operate them every day, and climb aboard to honk the horns.
 
The event will also feature equipment displays and information booths covering topics such as water conservation, stormwater protection, and Public Works programs. Children will have the chance to touch and sit inside the various equipment and vehicles used daily by Public Works crews.
 
This Roadeo coincides with National Public Works Week, taking place from May 17-23, a time to recognize the importance of Public Works in the everyday lives of residents.
 
Chalk the Park – May 21

Join the City of Carrollton for a colorful celebration of

creativity at Chalk the Park on Thursday, May 21, from 5-8 p.m. at Mary Heads Carter Park (2320 Heads Lane). Bring the entire family for an evening packed with free, family- friendly activities, including water games, inflatable obstacle courses, and photo opportunities. Grab some chalk to create stunning sidewalk masterpieces, followed by an exciting water gun showdown. Chalk is provided free of charge while supplies last; attendees are also welcome to bring chalk from home.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for a screening of the Disney animated film Inside Out 2 (2024), PG, at sunset.

Registration for Junior Police Academy closes May 22

Interested in discovering what it takes to become a police officer? Join the Carrollton Police Department’s Junior Police Academy. This four-day program is designed for middle school students enrolled in grades 6-8 in the 2025-2026 school year.

Participants must be in good standing and live in or attend school in Carrollton. The camp offers hands-on experiences, including traffic stops, building searches, crime scene investigation, SWAT and K9 operations, crisis negotiations, and more. Space is limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so register early to secure a spot. Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex Opens for Pre-Season Swimming on May 23

The Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex (1334 E. Rosemeade Parkway) will open for pre-season swimming hours beginning Saturday, May 23. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, May 25.

Regular operating hours begin Tuesday, May 26. Explore everything the Rainforest has to offer with a zero-depth entry pool, two platform levels with connecting bridges, water cannons, bubblers, spray bars, water slides, a 200-foot lazy river, and a 600-gallon dump bucket.

The main pool section also features a shaded toddler splash pool, a zero-depth entry activity pool with a depth of four feet, a 25-meter lap pool with eight lanes, a diving well, and two 22-foot water slides. Proper swimwear is required to enter the pool area; sports bras, jeans, basketball shorts, or apparel with grommets are not permitted.
