During the North Texas Invitational Saturday, March 1, at the RYSE ENERGY StarCenter MultiSport, a spectator’s gun accidentally discharged from his back pocket, according to a Farmers Branch Police report. A referee called 911, and the man drove himself to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Spectators quickly discovered it was an accidental shooting and did not leave the facility. The man quickly became the butt of jokes.
According to the FBPD, an initial report has been filed, but no further information is available on potential or pending charges.
“The Dallas Stars are aware of the incident this past Saturday at RYSE Energy StarCenter Multisport Farmers Branch. There were no injuries aside from the individual involved in the incident. For the safety of our patrons and staff, all Children’s Health StarCenter and Multisport facilities strictly prohibit firearms on property,” a Dallas Stars spokesperson said.
