The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD) has been recognized as a 2025-26 District of Distinction by the Texas Art Education Association, placing the district among 109 school systems statewide to receive the honor.
The annual award recognizes districts that demonstrate excellence in visual arts education through strong leadership, comprehensive programming and student opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. More than 1,200 Texas school districts were eligible, with recipients selected based on a 14-point rubric evaluating areas such as student participation in art competitions, community engagement, exhibitions and advocacy for the visual arts.
"This honor is a testament to the incredible talent of our students and the dedication of the teachers who inspire them daily," CFBISD Director of Fine Arts Mark Rohwer said. "The level of creativity coming out of our classrooms every single day is nothing short of inspiring."
According to the district, CFBISD ranked among the top 8% of eligible districts in Texas. The recognition program, now in its eighth year, is administered by the Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of the Texas Art Education Association.
CFBISD and the other recognized districts will be honored during the Texas Art Education Association conference this fall.
