School days will be five minutes longer for the remainder of the school year.
State law requires the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD) to make up the missed instruction time to meet the 75,600 minutes required each school year. School closures Jan 26-29 related to the January ice storm mean that except for Early College High School, all campuses will extend each day by five minutes for the remainder of the school year.
New school hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for elementary schools, 8:10 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. for middle schools and 8:40 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. for high schools.
The district acknowledged that small changes can affect schedules. "We appreciate our CFB Family’s cooperation in adjusting afternoon pick-up times," the district wrote on their Facebook page.
