Branch Herald Report
Raise a pint and help the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotarians battle polio while spending time with neighbors over a glass of beer or wine at 5:30 p.m., May 13.
A donation of $35 will be put toward ending polio and give participants a commemorative glass, a pint of beer and a Rotary End Polio Now wristband.
Every dollar donated will be matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Rotary clubs across the world have contributed more than $3.1 billion dollars to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Today, polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan. But it’s crucial to continue working to keep other countries polio-free. If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.
