Detectives are investigating a death following a 911 call reporting a body in a drainage area on Welch Road.
The Farmers Branch Police Department (FBPD) responded to a call at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, reporting a possible body near the 13800 block of Welch Road near the intersection of Olin Road, south of Spring Valley Road, on the east side of Farmers Branch.
Responding officers found single male dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
The FBPD is working to determine the victim’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the case.
This is the second gunshot victim found near Farmers Branch roads in recent months. Police have confirmed the cases are unrelated.
Nilzuly Enrique Arneaud Petit was found dead Aug. 24, the day after his 33rd birthday, off the 1100 block of Valley View Lane, near the John F. Burke Nature Preserve on the west side of the city.
He was kidnapped with two teens after a party from an apartment complex on Fair Oaks Crossing in Dallas. Petit died of a gunshot wound to the head.
The teens were released near the bridge at I-35E and Corporate Drive in Lewisville, where Lewisville Police Officers found them walking unharmed.
The Branch Herald is following up on reports that an arrest has been made in the Petit case and will update as more information on both cases comes available.
