Oakbrook celebrates Happy WELL Year with polar plunge

Posted

Residents of the Oakbrook Community Homeowner Association (HOA) congregated in an unusual spot for Jan. 1: the community swimming pool.

Warmer than normal temperatures may have encouraged them as they carried out their first annual Polar Bear Plunge Health Expo.

Mayor Terry Lynne, presiding Plunge Judge, awarded prizes and distributed certificates. Kris Cook and Grayson Stidham stayed in the pool for 5 minutes.

Along with the Polar Bear Plunge, a mini health expo focused on circulation to ensure a happy well year. Whether through cold therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) devices or extra movement we are on the road to a healthy community.

Margaret Stidham is the social committee chairperson of the Oakbrook HOA. Paula Reed, speech pathogist, co-organized the event.
