Firefighters from around the world competed in five different challenges as part of the Firefighter Challenge World Championship Oct. 19-25 at the Dallas College Brookhaven Campus.
Starting with the stair climb, firefighters raced up five stories so they could start the next challenge, the Hose Hoist. Firefighters pulled a heavy water hose spool all the way up the flight of stairs they just climbed before racing back down to their next challenge.
Next, they tackled The Keiser, a machine designed to simulate the chopping motion required for breaching doors or walls.
For the Hose Advance, firefighters pulled a water hose down the lane to spray a small target.
Lastly, for the Victim Rescue, contestants dragged a 165-pound “Rescue Randy” to the finish line.
