Lewisville Mayor T.J. Gilmore will join Dr. Jamie L. Baxter-Slye, an expert in prairie reconstruction, stream ecology and avian/pollinator habitat will present Lewisville’s Extending the Green Roots for Wings initiatives at this week’s North Texas Master Naturalist meeting at Dallas College Brookhaven Campus.
Roots for Wings is a program to bring native pollinator gardens to the City of Lewisville with participation from the city, the Native Plant Society of Texas and local master gardenter and master naturalist chapters.
Gilmore and Baxter will discuss how Lewisville is including native habitat while creating a path toward progress and how to engage the community, what plants to include and how to measure the success of native installations.
The 7 p.m. program will take place Wednesday, May 7, in person at Dallas College Brookhaven Campus, Building H, Room 125 or over Zoom.
The camera roll and socializing will start at 6 p.m. Introductions and announcements start at 6:30 p.m. The featured presentation will begin at 7:20 p.m. and adjournment is scheduled for 8:45 p.m.
