La Parisienne brings French dining to Addison

Posted

When diners step through the doors of La Parisienne French Bistro at Village on the Parkway, they find rose chandeliers, Tiffany-blue accents and an atmosphere designed to evoke Paris.

The 4,800-square-foot restaurant, which opened Nov. 7, represents an expansion for founder Mondi Tag, who first introduced her French concept at The Star in Frisco in 2023. The Addison location is 600 square feet larger than the original and now serves as the flagship.

"From the first time I visited Paris, I recognized the sense of magic and the romance that the city gives its guests," Tag said. "I wanted to share that gracious service and joie de vivre with North Texas."

General manager Matt Schulte describes La Parisienne as operating "almost like four restaurants under one roof," serving brunch, lunch, dinner and daily afternoon tea. Each service period has its own dedicated team leads that requires coordination across the bakery, kitchen, bar and tea service.

"An upscale French bistro leaves no room for shortcuts," Schulte said. "Everything from our sauces to our service needs to feel intentional, polished and elevated."

That commitment extends to the kitchen, where chef Omar Adame crafts a menu combining classic French technique with modern presentation. Signature dishes include Beef Wellington served daily, Duck Two Ways with confit leg and seared breast, whole roasted Branzino Almondine and Hot Honey Duck N' Waffles. The menu also includes bouillabaisse, steak frites and bruleed French toast.

Tag partnered with Adame to source premium ingredients, including Heartbrand Certified Akaushi beef, a wagyu variety prized for its intense marbling and buttery texture.

"Quality is everything," Tag said. "If we're going to call ourselves a true French-inspired bistro, we owe our guests the very best. Using Certified Akaushi beef, high-quality butter, imported cheeses and fresh produce allows our chefs to honor French techniques while giving diners an unforgettable experience."

The in-house bakery makes fresh pastries, breads, cakes and desserts daily. Menu items include Triple Chocolate Mousse, Infinity Pistachio, Napoleon and creme brulee. As a scratch kitchen, Tag says the restaurant can accommodate allergies and gluten sensitivities.

"The bakery is truly the heart of the restaurant," Tag said.

The restaurant also serves afternoon tea daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., priced from $32 for children to $59 for adults. The experience includes tiered presentations of finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and jam, and pastries alongside fine teas. Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance.

"Afternoon tea is such a timeless, elegant tradition," Tag said. "It gives guests a reason to slow down, celebrate and create memories."

Pianist and vocalist Andrew Frye performs Friday and Saturday evenings from 6 to 9:30 p.m. The bar area features photos of Paris and miniature hot air balloons overhead. The outdoor patio provides seating with warm lighting.

"The Metrocrest area is dynamic, diverse and growing rapidly," Tag said. "There's a strong appreciation here for unique dining experiences. Addison has all the energy of a major food city but still maintains a neighborhood feel."

For staff training, La Parisienne emphasizes hospitality over technical skills. Schulte looks for team members with "genuine warmth, composure and curiosity" who thrive in fast-paced environments. Training includes menu classes and tastings, wine and cocktail education, and role-play scenarios focused on French-style service.

"We train servers to describe each dish in approachable, enthusiastic language, not technical culinary jargon," Schulte said. "When guests sense genuine excitement from the team, they're far more willing to explore something new."

La Parisienne is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant is located at 5100 Belt Line Road, Suite 700, in Addison.

Tag said she plans to expand into additional markets soon. She envisions La Parisienne evolving into a lifestyle brand with restaurants, bakery locations and events.

"Growth will always come, but only when it aligns with the quality and experience we stand for," she said.
