Each year, one organization coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 4,225 locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.
Last year, Keenan Cemetery, located at 2570 Valley View Lane, became one of those locations served by Wreaths Across America. It is the only cemetery in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch area served by the program.
However, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 597 did not have enough wreaths to place on the tombstones of each of the 117 veterans buried at Keenan Cemetery.
“Some members were not even able to place on wreaths on the tombstones of family that served,” said Misty Jeffcoat, second vice president of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 597. “This year we want to make sure all the veterans in this cemetery get a wreath.”
To provide wreaths for every veteran this year, the legion seeks wreath sponsors. Each wreath costs $17, and the legion said any donation helps them toward their goal.

The legion will place the wreaths on Dec. 14 at Keenan Cemetery. Everyone is welcome to help place wreaths.
