More than 110 residents packed The Meeting Place on Friday, April 10, for a candidate forum hosted by Branch Vision, with overflow crowds filling additional conference rooms to watch a livestream of the event.

The turnout exceeded expectations, underscoring growing community interest ahead of the May municipal election and elevating Branch Vision’s role in local political engagement.

“This is a political action committee, and we need all members to do a little action,” said Mike McGinnis, who chairs the organization, as he welcomed attendees and outlined the group’s mission.

The central meeting space filled quickly, prompting organizers to open three additional conference rooms where attendees viewed the forum via Facebook Live.

All Farmers Branch mayoral and District 2 candidates participated.

Moderator Al Mahesh said the strong turnout caught organizers off guard.

“We didn’t expect this many people. Thank you for being here,” Mahesh told the audience.

Mahesh said candidates did not receive questions in advance and that he worked up until 4 p.m. the day of the event to finalize them, aiming to keep the discussion nonpartisan and focused on issues relevant to voters.

According to Branch Vision, the forum was designed to increase voter awareness and engagement in local government.

“We are pleased to be able to fulfill our objective of bringing information to the voters and emphasis on local government to voters who may not normally be attentive to local issues,” McGinnis said following the event.

The interest, attendance and execution of the forum signaled growing momentum for Branch Vision as a visible presence in Farmers Branch politics.
