Posted

Carrollton’s Festival at the Switchyard will bring a full day of free concerts, community performances, rides and games to Historic Downtown Carrollton on Saturday, Nov. 7, with Toad the Wet Sprocket headlining the 16th annual event.

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 1106 S. Broadway St. Admission and concerts are free, and the event will take place rain or shine.

The main stage lineup includes Bird Brains, Elias Y Su Orquesta, Midtown 10, Bri Bagwell, Heartbyrne, Wheatus and Eve 6, followed by Toad the Wet Sprocket at 8:50 p.m.

Local performers will also have a prominent role throughout the day. The Vivian Field Middle School Choir will open the festival with the national anthem at 11:05 a.m. Between main stage acts, audiences can see the R.E. Good Elementary School Dance Department, R.L. Turner Lionettes Drill Team, Carrollton-founded 410 Line Dancers, Alianza Rumbera Dance Studio and Class Act Tap Company.

The entertainment will extend beyond the stage. Cause to Play cosplayers will be available for photos, while performers from Downtown Carrollton’s Pocket Sandwich Theatre will appear in costumes from “The Werewolf of London.” David and Amanda Slick will perform juggling, jump-roping and hula-hooping, and magician David Knight will offer close-up sleight-of-hand tricks.

Families can also enjoy free carnival rides, a zipline, bungee trampolines, a 25-foot-tall fun slide and a video game truck. Other activities include face painting, balloon twisting, arts and crafts, carnival games, spin art and caricatures.

Inside Main Event Plaza, next to the main stage, visitors can play free arcade games and pinball, including Guitar Hero, Pac-Man, Galaga and Frogger. Food vendors, Downtown restaurants, craft vendors and businesses will also be open for festivalgoers.
