Free breakfast draws community to meet first responders

Patrol Officer Kaylee Wooten and Quartermaster Cheryl Collier finish breakfast at Black Agave. Wooten finished her last day of field training and was officially sworn in on Monday, Dec. 16. Collier describes herself as, ‘I am the department mom.’ Her job requires her to care for everything the officers wear and use when on duty.

The final Coffee with the Cop for 2024 brought out the city’s first responders on Saturday, Dec. 14, to Black Agave at Mercer Boardwalk.

Citizens on Patrol helped host the event, which included a buffet breakfast provided by Black Agave.

The Farmers Branch Fire Department firefighter paramedics were called away to respond to an alarm, which prompted good-natured teasing by police officers that they timed it to avoid clean up.
