Farmers Branch is preparing for a new fall celebration while also giving residents an opportunity to get a closer look at the work of the city’s police department.
The city will debut Farmers Branch Fall Fest on Saturday, Oct. 10, combining two longtime seasonal traditions with a new 5K and fun run.
Fall Fest will bring together Halloween in the Park and Haunts & Houses along with the inaugural Spooky Dash 5K and Fun Run.
Registration is now open for the Spooky Dash.
Before the October event, the city will hold a community meeting at 5 p.m. Sept. 9 at Venue 1842 at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. Residents can learn more about race logistics, possible street impacts and what surrounding neighborhoods can expect during the event.
More information and Spooky Dash registration are available on the city’s Fall Fest and Spooky Dash webpage.
The Farmers Branch Police Department is also accepting registrations for its Citizens Police Academy, which begins Thursday, Sept. 24.
The academy gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at police operations, including how officers respond to calls and make decisions in the field. Participants will meet officers, learn about day-to-day operations and take part in interactive, reality-based scenarios using police training equipment.
Pre-registration is required, and space is limited. Completing the academy is also required for residents who want to participate in the department’s Citizens On Patrol program.
Registration is available at farmersbranchtx.gov/citizens-police-academy.
