CPR/AED Training – April 9
Sudden cardiac arrest is a survivable event, but usually only with bystander intervention before Emergency Medical Services arrive. Join Carrollton Fire Rescue on Thursday, April 9 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Carrollton Fire Administration building (1111 W. Belt Line Road #100) to receive free CPR and AED use training. This class primarily focuses on compression-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), while also covering choking, and child & infant CPR.
This course is not for those needing a nationally accredited course completion card, such as the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. For more information, call 972-466-9811.
Sounds on the Square – April 10
Join the City of Carrollton for the Sounds on the Square music series from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 10 in Historic Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street). This community-focused live music series highlights the Downtown Square with monthly performances from talented local artists and performers. This week features The Boomerz Band with their wide range of pop, R&B, country, blues, specializing in 60s pop favorites and classic country.
Come early to grab a bite from one of the many eclectic restaurants and then shop at the unique shops and boutiques surrounding the square. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends, family, and some lawn chairs to get cozy. For more information, call 972-466-9135.
Spring Family Campout – April 11
Spend a night beneath the stars at the Spring Family Campout at R.E. Good Soccer Complex (2335 Sandy Lake Road). Campgrounds open at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 11. Campers can enjoy activities such as archery, arts and crafts, stargazing, tie knots, and more. Dinner will be provided, along with a bonfire and a screening of Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), PG at sunset. Breakfast will be provided in the morning as everyone breaks camp.
Campsite must be cleared by 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 12. Participants must bring their own camping equipment. Registration is required, and on-site registration is available from 5 p.m. until dark. The cost is $10/resident or $13/non-resident per camper over four years old.
Protecting the Family & Leaving A Legacy | Money Smart – April 13
Discover how to safeguard family assets and create a legacy from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, April 13 at the Hebron & Josey Library (4220 N. Josey Lane). This program will help attendees understand the various types of insurance and legal documents necessary for achieving peace of mind.

Earth Day Celebration – April 18
Join the City of Carrollton’s Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road). Enjoy free activities, crafts, giveaways, and demonstrations. Explore booths focused on water conservation, plant science, meteorology, geology, and the night sky through hands-on activities.
The event features community partners such as the Denton County Master Gardener Association, which will offer hands-on gardening and composting education using live worms. Republic Services will teach attendees about recycling and provide a touch-a-truck experience. Carrollton Animal Services will also present live animal ambassadors from the North Texas Wildlife Center.
City Council Meeting – April 21
All are invited to attend the next Carrollton City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 7. The worksession will begin at 5:45 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the Council Chamber located on the second floor of City Hall (1945 E. Jackson Road). Meetings typically occur on the first and third Tuesday of each month, with minutes becoming available after the Council adopts them, usually at subsequent meetings.

The Carrollton Police Department invites residents 50 and over to a free lunch and chat on Wednesday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get up-to-date public safety information, current trends that make residents harder targets for criminals, and other topics that can improve their quality of life. National Prescription Drug Take Back Day – April 25
The City of Carrollton will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The drop-off location will be in the south parking lot of the Carrollton Police Station (2025 E. Jackson Road). The public can surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceuticals and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction, no questions asked, and no identification required.
Items that will not be accepted include any marked biohazard items, sharps, inhaler medications, and bulk medications from pharmacies, veterinarians, or other medical organizations. Illegal substances will also not be collected.
Wayland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation
April is recognized as Water Conservation Month, and the City is joining a national effort in challenging residents to conserve water, reduce pollution, and care for natural resources. From now until April 30, residents can take the challenge and visit the Wayland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation and make a pledge. Participants can even win eco-friendly prizes while taking an active role in protecting the environment.
Poetree: Community Poem Display
Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Carrollton Public Library. Visit either Library beginning April 1 through April 30, during regular Library hours, to write an original poem on a paper leaf to add to the Library’s Poetree display. Participation is free, and all supplies are provided.
Splash Parks Open May 1
Both the Oak Hills Splash Park (1225 Royal Palm Lane) and W.J. Thomas Splash Park (1955 N. Perry Road) will open for the season on Sunday, May 1. No activation is required as the features will automatically run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pavilions, tables, shaded areas, grills, and a deck are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
