Families showed their enthusiasm for fishing Saturday, April 26, at Farmers Branch's annual tournament, Fishin' Fun.
The free event for children 16 and younger, took place on Rawhide Creek at Gussie Field Watterworth Park. Prizes were handed out based on age categories, and those who reeled in specially tagged fish earned special prizes.
"This is a really cool event, really special," said Bob Timm, who has participated with his family the last three years. "It's great because it pulls the community together. It's unique. You don't see it in a lot of places."
In addition, the event, which is organized by City of Farmers Branch staff, included other family-friendly activities, including face painting, lawn games, digging for worms and a DJ.
Next year's event will be Saturday, April 25, from 8-11 a.m. at Gussie Field Watterworth Park.
