Pooches dressed as pirates, princesses and pumpkins strutted their stuff Saturday, Oct. 18, at Vitruvian Park's annual Howl-O-Ween pet costume contest.
The free event drew dog owners from across the Dallas area for four hours of tail-wagging festivities at the park's east parking lot. Small dogs took the stage at 10:30 a.m., followed by large breeds at 11:15 a.m., competing for ribbons in categories including Best Costume and Most Creative.
Beyond the costume pageantry, Addison Parks and Recreation offered 300 free vaccines covering DHPP, Bordetella and rabies. Local vendors lined the lot while live music provided a soundtrack to the spooktacular affair.
The celebration required all dogs to stay leashed and owners to show proof of rabies vaccination. Preregistration was encouraged though walk ups were welcome at the venue near the sand volleyball courts.
The event continues the Town of Addison's tradition of pet-friendly community programming at Vitruvian Park.
