Farmers Branch City Council member David Reid traded the council chamber for the karaoke stage Saturday night, performing Charlie Daniels' "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" during The Firehouse Theatre's "Spark the Stage" fundraiser.

Most of the evening's karaoke performers were actors, singers and other supporters of the theater, though a handful of community members also took the stage. The fundraiser was part of The Firehouse Theatre's effort to support future growth, especially additional space for rehearsals, classrooms, offices and storage and expanded educational programming.

Executive Director David Moore emphasized that The Firehouse Theatre is staying at its current location and seeking a two-building approach to address its growth needs.

The theater's strategic plan calls for addressing facility needs over the next several years as it seeks to expand its arts education offerings and community impact in Farmers Branch.
