Coffee with cop promotes program

Posted

A sunny day, a free cup of coffee and the opportunity to visit with a few of Farmers Branch’s police officers prompted quite a few residents to stop in at PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans on Saturday, March 23.

Officer Michael Britton reminded residents that the annual Citizens Police Academy starts April 25, and that those interested in participating in the nine-week course should apply soon.

The academy is 6:30-9:30 p.m. April 25 to June 20 at the Farmers Branch Police Department, 3723 Valley View Lane.

Students will learn about community programs, crime prevention, cyber crime, sex offender registrations, criminal investigations and how the criminal justice system works, drones, accident investigations and reconstructions, DWI enforcement and more.

There is no cost for this program.

Twenty applicants, ages 18 and older are accepted. All applicants must undergo a light background check before they are accepted. For more information, visit https://www.farmersbranchtx.gov/393/Citizens-Police-Academy or email brittonm@farmersbranchtx.gov.
