CFBISD Educational Foundation celebrates outstanding educators

Posted

Each day in Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD), students pursue big dreams, and behind every one of those dreams is a dedicated teacher helping make it possible. This spring, the CFBISD Educational Foundation invites local businesses and community members to support those educators through the 2026 Teacher of the Year Celebration, an inspiring event that also serves as the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser.

The Teacher of the Year program honors exceptional educators from every CFBISD campus while directly funding classrooms across the district. Last year, thanks to generous corporate sponsors and individual donors, every CFBISD campus received $1,000 through the foundation’s Great Start Grants program – flexible funding principals could use immediately to support teachers at the start of the school year.

Building on that success, the foundation has set a goal of raising more than $50,000 in 2026. Under the leadership of Jan Rugg of Atmos Energy Corporation and Educational Foundation Chair Mary Lovell, the event continues to grow as a powerful example of what community partnership can accomplish.

“When we invest in teachers, we invest in every student and in the future of our entire community,” Rugg said.

Held April 16 at the Nancy Watten Technology and Events Center in Las Colinas, the celebration will bring together district leaders, educators and community partners to recognize excellence across all CFBISD campuses. Each school is represented by a Teacher of the Year nominee, with two educators advancing to compete at the regional, state and potentially national level.

Sponsorships provide meaningful recognition and visibility across the district, while most importantly delivering immediate, measurable impact for teachers and students. Individual contributions are also welcome and play an important role in helping the Foundation reach its fundraising goal.
