Carrollton’s beloved Paws on the Square returns to Historic Downtown on Saturday, April 4, marking the event’s 10th year of bringing together dog lovers, families, and local businesses for a morning of tail‑wagging fun. From 9 a.m. to noon, the Square (1106 S. Broadway Street) will transform into a lively, pet‑friendly gathering place filled with activities, vendors, and opportunities to learn more about caring for the animals who share our homes and neighborhoods.
This free event features a wide range of offerings for both pets and their humans. Attendees can browse pet‑focused vendor booths with accessories, treats, and helpful information; enjoy free caricatures and professional pet photos; and take advantage of free City pet registration for Carrollton residents with proof of rabies vaccination. Operation Kindness will also provide low‑cost vaccinations and microchipping from 9–11 a.m.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by the Carrollton Animal Services (CAS) booth to learn about adoption opportunities, volunteer programs, and ways to support local animal welfare efforts. CAS will accept both monetary and material donations during the event.
This year, UrbanTail Cleanup will host an interactive booth designed to help dog owners understand how cleaner yards and shared spaces contribute to healthier pets and happier neighborhoods. Look for us in booth #8 with our teardrop banner that says “We Scoop Poop”.
We’re excited to meet families, share what we do, and support a city that values walkability, parks, and pet‑friendly living.
At the UrbanTail booth, visitors will find:
Carrollton Animal Services Manager Travis Caperton says the event continues to grow because of the bond people share with their pets. “There aren’t very many events that focus on the special relationship between pets and their human companions the way Paws on the Square does,” Caperton said. “Those looking to create lasting memories with their pets should definitely come out.”
All dogs must have ID tags, remain on a leash and have a current rabies vaccination (or be in line to receive one). Attendees will receive a dog‑related promotional item while supplies last.
Paws on the Square has drawn hundreds of animal lovers over the past nine years, and this year’s milestone event promises to be one of the most engaging yet.
