11. Why are you running for city council, and why now? Farmers Branch has been my home for 31 years and I want to give back. Like President John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you; Ask what you can do for your country”. I am positioned and ready for this task.
 
12. What specific experiences have prepared you to serve as city council member of Farmers Branch? I have a degree in Business Leadership I have been on three Boards and Commissions: Family Advisory Board, Community Watch and Charter Review Commission. I am a graduate of Citizen’s Police Academy and Citizen’s Fire Academy. I have attended city council meetings on and off since 2010. I have been a Real Estate proprietor since 1997.
 
13. What distinguishes you from the other candidate in this race? I have lived in Farmers Branch for 31 years.
I have been a Real Estate manager for over 30 years. I am invested in this city with seven rental properties here. I have never filed for bankruptcy.

14. How many Farmers Branch City Council meetings have you attended or watched online in the last year? All of them.
 
15. What do you see as the three most important responsibilities of city council members? 1. To make wise decisions regarding the use of our resident’s tax money.

3. Infrastructure.
 
16. How will you balance council duties with your professional and personal responsibilities? With a planner. A planner helps to organize each day, giving appropriate attention to council duties, professional obligations and personal responsibilities.
 
17. Have you served on any City of Farmers Branch boards or commissions, which ones? Yes: Family Advisory Board, Community Watch, and Charter Review Commission.
 
18. What other civic responsibilities have you undertaken? What other offices have you run for? When? I have undertaken to attend City council meetings frequently since 2010. I ran for City Council 4 times: 2010, 2015, 2021, and 2024. I ran for Mayor once, in 2020. I am very persistent.
 
19. What community organizations do you belong to? Branch Connection
 
20. How accessible do you think council members should be to residents, and how will you ensure accessibility? Council members should be extremely accessible to residents via monthly emails, cell-phone calls and personal visits.
 
21. How would you ensure transparency in city decision-making? All Farmers Branch council meetings are online. All budget transactions are online. The city is now sending out a monthly newsletter. If someone has an idea on how to become more transparent, I will listen and bring it before the council.
 
22. What do you see as the steepest learning curve if elected? I look forward to sitting down with our Chief Financial Officer to gain a deeper understanding of the city budget.
 
23. What is your vision for Farmers Branch over the next five years? Maintain the beauty of our parks. Eliminate wasteful spending. Work to unify the council. Adequately fund public safety. Support City Council leadership. Support our current businesses. Bring new businesses in. Retain excellent city services.

24. What is the biggest opportunity facing the city right now? New businesses choosing our location.
 
25. What is the biggest risk or threat facing the city? Our roadways will see more traffic as population increases. We can get cars off the road by encouraging the use of DART.
 
26. What kind of city do you want Farmers Branch to be in 10 years? Beautiful parks. Safe streets. Businesses thriving. Residents content and satisfied. Every vacant building occupied. Highway 635 service-road alive with restaurants.
 
27. What principles would guide your decisions on property tax rates?
Keep taxes as low as we can while maintaining excellent city services.
 
28. What areas of the budget deserve closer scrutiny or potential reduction? DART negotiations have already been made and further discussions are forthcoming. We should be getting appropriate service for our contribution. I was a voice in favor of keeping DART.
 
29. What types of businesses should Farmers Branch actively recruit?
Grocery stores, Restaurants, nice Hotels, Barnes & Noble or Half-Price bookstores, Corporate businesses, Amazon distribution center, gas- stations, high-tech companies, sports and recreation facilities, senior-housing options.
 
30. What is your position on multi-family housing in Farmers Branch? Research the demand and apply appropriately. I don’t want to overbuild these.
 
31. What infrastructure priorities should the city focus on in the next five years? Continue the street-repair and under-the-street piping programs as scheduled and as needed.
 
32. How do you describe your leadership style? My decisions will be made with the long-term impact in mind, considering future generations. I will research the issues and listen to professionals in the
field before making decisions. I will study and research the financial implications. I will listen, consider and respect the voice of my constituents.
 
33. How would/do you handle disagreement with fellow council members? I will listen. I will state my view. I will respect the decisions of my fellow council members.

34. Describe a time when you changed your mind after hearing opposing viewpoints. I thought a firetruck with a extended ladder reaching up four stories was unnecessary until I heard the Fire Chief’s explanation.
 
35. What is one recent City Council decision you disagree with, and why? I am in favor of a gas station at the NW corner of Alpha and Midway. It would bring a needed service to our community and revenue to the city.
 
36. Farmers Branch has undergone significant redevelopment in recent years. What specific areas should be the next priority, and why? Eastside. We need prosperous, useful and needed businesses to occupy our vacant buildings.
