Accomplished comedian Linda Stogner will join long-time Farmers Branch resident Tim Ketchersid onstage for “Funny Friday” this week.

Promoted as “Laugh Out Loud, Clean Comedy, Close to Home,” Ketchersid has been producing the standup comedy show on the first Friday of the month at The Meeting Place since April.

Stogner is the featured comedian on the June edition of “Funny Friday,” which will take place at 7:30 pm on June 6.

Stogner has a Dry Bar Comedy Special, “Linda Stogner; Welcome to My Planet,” won the Funniest Comic in Texas competition in 2014; was named the Funniest Female Comedian in the Heartland; and she was a finalist in The Funniest Woman in America Contest. Stogner has shared the stage with with Brian Regan, Leanne Morgan, Ryan Hamilton and numerous other well-known comedians.

“Linda is not just funny, she’s the most generous comedian in the DFW area. Like any great comedian, she gives loads of laughs to the people who see her act; but as the co-founder and operator of the Backdoor Comedy Club in Richardson, she’s given stage time, encouragement and opportunity to practically every comic in the DFW area for over 20 years,” Ketchersid said.

Stogner is well known for her quirky perspective and vivid storytelling. The Branch Herald thought it would be fun to get to know her a little better by asking a few off-beat questions:

What’s a completely useless talent you’re oddly proud of?

Apparently, when I am super tired, I can sleep standing up.

What’s your guilty pleasure song that you blast when you’re alone?

“New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra

What was your weirdest or most irrational childhood fear?

When I was about five, I heard my mom say, “There is more than one way to skin a cat.” I didn’t think my mom would actually skin our cat, but just in case, I hid her in my room for two weeks.

What’s the first lie you remember telling?

My mom asked me, “Are you still in that living room watching TV, time for bed?” I replied, “No ma’am, I am not in the living room watching TV.” I had scooted my chair to the edge of the dining room and was watching it from there. Technically, it was not a lie.

What heckle still haunts you (or made you laugh later)?

I did a family friendly show once and this little boy about 5 years old shouts out, “You have a big head!” Yep, that one is stuck in my brain forever.
