The Innovation Zone at Farmers Branch Public Library was filled with adults trying to figure out the best way to desecrate books.

Library associate Clarissa Cardona had given them specific instructions on how to cut 60 pages out of the centers of each person's book. Armed with Xacto knives and scissors, patrons commenced the cutting and tearing of pages, an activity drilled into all children at young ages as not acceptable. But for this one night, it was. The group made folded paper vases out of old books and filled them with flowers provided by the library.

Each month, Cardona comes up with a new craft for the adults. In January, they also cut pages of books to create simple and easy paper flowers.

On March 18, Cardona is turning the teacher hat over to Jeffrey Miller, who will teach the essentials of charcoal drawing. Each participant will leave with a finished piece.

The adult craft night is 6-7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month, and is just one of many activities and classes the library offers for people of all ages and abilities. For more information, check out the Manske Library calendar of events.
