Addison residents invited to clean up community and participate in fall events

Posted

Addison residents have several opportunities to get involved in their community this fall, from helping beautify local parks and clearing out unwanted household items to participating in family-friendly activities and sharing feedback on community facilities.

The Town of Addison will host its Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, November 7, inviting volunteers to help clean up four local parks: Les Lacs Park, Winnwood Park, Vitruvian Park and Addison Circle Park.

Volunteers participating at Les Lacs Park will meet at the pavilion near the playground, across from the Addison Athletic Club. Those helping at Winnwood Park can park at the Finance building, located at 5350 Belt Line Road, and walk to the park.

At Vitruvian Park, volunteers can park in the public lot near the Ponte Avenue roundabout and meet at the pedestrian bridge across from the outdoor gym. Addison Circle Park volunteers will meet at the pavilion near Java & Hopps, located at 4970 Addison Circle.

The Town will provide trash grabbers, bags, gloves and water for participants. Registration closes Friday, October 30, at 5 p.m.

Residents looking to dispose of unwanted household items can also participate in Clear the Clutter on Saturday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Addison Service Center, located at 16801 Westgrove Drive.

The event will offer on-site shredding and recycling services for both Addison residents and non-residents. Household hazardous waste disposal will be available exclusively to Addison residents, who must provide proof of residency.

In addition to the cleanup opportunities, the Addison Athletic Club is seeking feedback from its members through a survey about the Club's facilities, programs and services.

The survey will help identify areas for improvement and determine how the Club can better serve its members. The survey is open through October 31 and can be completed online or by obtaining a paper copy at the Athletic Club's front desk.

Families can also celebrate Halloween at Little Night of Frights on Friday, October 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Les Lacs Park.

The family-friendly event will feature trick-or-treating, costumes, inflatables and activities for young children. The Town is seeking candy donations and encouraging residents, neighborhood groups and local businesses to participate.

Candy donations can be dropped off at the Addison Athletic Club. Those interested in participating can contact Children's Recreation Coordinator Daisy Gray at dgray@addisontx.gov.

The Addison Police Department will also host Coffee with a Cop on Wednesday, October 28, at 10 a.m. at Chase Bank, located at 14250 Marsh Lane.

The event provides an informal opportunity for community members to meet local officers, ask questions, discuss concerns and build connections with the department.
