The Town of Addison is transitioning to a new agenda management system, with implementation expected in July. During this transition, meeting video links may not appear on the agenda page due to an issue with the current software vendor.

City Council meeting videos remain available on the Watch City Council Meeting webpage. The June 9 meeting can be viewed here.

Council approves expanded uses for Aberdeen Building

At its June 9 meeting, the City Council approved an amendment to the Planned Development zoning for the Aberdeen Building, located at 14841 North Dallas Parkway. The amendment expands the range of permitted commercial uses within the existing building, providing greater flexibility to attract tenants and respond to changing market conditions. The first floor of this building was once the Pizza Hut test kitchen.

Newly permitted uses include personal services, retail sales, indoor recreation, medical clinics, banks and financial institutions, daycare centers, vocational schools, and data centers, with several uses subject to specific operational standards or additional approvals. No changes to the building, parking, landscaping, or site layout are proposed as part of the amendment.

Council says yes to late-night cookies

At its June 9 meeting, the City Council approved a Special Use Permit for Insomnia Cookies, located at 5000 Belt Line Road, Suite 430, allowing the business to extend its operating hours. The cookie shop may now remain open until 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, helping it better serve Addison's late-night dining and entertainment crowd. Insomnia Cookies opened earlier this year and offers freshly baked cookies for takeout and delivery. The business does not serve alcohol, and any future request to add on-site alcohol sales would require additional Town approval.
