At its January 27 meeting, the City Council approved an Ordinance calling a special election in May 2026 for Addison voters to consider withdrawing from DART. In preparation for the possibility of withdrawal, staff have been exploring alternative transit options for Council consideration.
During a Work Session on February 10, staff reviewed current DART services, the DART service area and transit models used by other Texas cities. Following that discussion, staff issued a Request for Proposals for mobility services that could be implemented if voters approve withdrawing from DART.
The proposal deadline was March 6. Two companies, Via and Circuit, submitted proposals, and the Council interviewed representatives from both agencies during the March 10 City Council meeting. Staff will continue evaluating the proposals, with a potential agreement for mobility services anticipated to be considered at the March 24 City Council meeting.
