Metrocrest Services hosts community showcase

Posted

Metrocrest Services took their community showcase indoors Saturday, Oct. 10.

Families and individuals were welcomed to connect with local organizations and see what community resources are available. Community members could get information on resources for health needs, mental health services, food assistance, job training, college information and legal services.

Families and individuals were welcomed at the entry table and given paper passports to take around to the individual organization tables during the showcase. When a person visited each local organization’s table and learned about their services, the paper passport received a stamp. Once each empty slot on the passport was filled, the passports could be turned in to enter a raffle that took place at the end of the showcase.

Local organizations that provided resources and information during the showcase included North Texas Food Bank, The CFB Educational Foundation, Smile Dental, Woven Health Clinic, Dallas College, NAMI Mental Health Services, Parkland Hospital and PediPlace.

Two one-hour long presentations were presented during the event; Hope’s Cottage presented a parenting class and Irving Independent School District presented a presentation on educational programs.

People also had the opportunity to donate blood with the American Red Cross.

Flu vaccines and health screening were also offered during the showcase.

The community showcase helped residents discover programs, services and community resources that can support them throughout the Metrocrest area.
