Branch Arts Live showcases local art and performances

Posted

Thirty-nine ensembles highlighted a variety of talent and creativity from local schools, studios and community organizations on Sunday, Oct. 25.

The Farmers Branch Arts and Culture Committee showcased Branch Arts Live for the fourth year at Gussie Field Watterworth Park, giving the community a taste not only of local talent, but also of traditional and contemporary dance and music styles.

Student artwork pieces from local Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD schools were showcased inside the lobby area of City Hall. Visuals of the recent art installations on the West Side Art Trail were also on display.

Lauren Prengler, museum educator for the Farmers Branch Historical Park; Chris Stevenson, a member of the Farmers Branch Arts and Culture Committee; and other city staff and volunteers greeted attendees.

A QR code allowed attendees to see the list of scheduled performances for the event.

Information was also available to attendees who were interested in getting involved with the Arts and Culture Committee and the Events Subcommittee.

Vivian Field Middle School Mariachi Band played welcoming attendees into the event.

Amy Cave, who was one of the original founders of Branch Arts Live, welcomed attendees and introduced the different performances as the performers came onto the stage.

The R.L. Turner High School Lionettes, Vivian Field Middle School Folklorico Ensemble, R. L Turner High School Royal Dance Company, Royal Ballet Dance Academy’s Royale Elite Dance Company and Amy’s Studio of Performing Arts Tappy Hour, which host Amy Cave performed in, were a few of the many performances highlighted during the event.

Attendees purchased hot dogs, nachos, tacos and drinks from Nuevo Leon, who was set up by the shaded seating area. Guests could enjoy their food in the shaded table area or at their own lawn chairs and picnic blankets in front of the amphitheater stage.

The playground at Gussie Field Watterworth Park was open to children to play.

The Arts and Culture Committee has not yet announced the date or line up for the 2027 Branch Arts Live.
